Coast to Coast 2024 Itinerary - Friday 17th May – Sunday 19th May

Friday 17th May

Setting off at 2pm from Wickford train station, we’re headed for Barrow-in-Furness with an estimated arrival time of 8pm. There will be a coach stop throughout the journey. Upon arriving in Barrow-in-Furness we will head to our rooms unloading cycles ready for the morning. The hotel has a restaurant which we have planned to eat in.

Saturday 18th May

Cycling day! We head to Barrow-in-Furness seafront for 4.50am ahead of sunrise, awaiting the arrival of the sun at 5.03am (estimated) at which point we set off. Heading up through the Lake district, across the country into the North Pennines and onto the Sunderland seafront where we finish. 134 miles from start to finish, with planned rest stops along the way. CyCool will be following the slowest rider for the duration of the ride, however can drive forward to assist with any mechanical or medical issues. There is no time limit on the event, however the challenge is to beat the sun before it sets, which is due to be at 21.16pm, allowing over 16 hours of riding time.  

Upon arrival in Sunderland, we will gather at the finish before heading to our hotel and then onwards to a local restaurant or pub for dinner and well-earned beer!

Sunday 19th May

We are set to depart Sunderland at 9am with an estimated arrival time back in Wickford at 4pm latest. Meeting from 8am for breakfast and beginning to load up cycle trailer and luggage. Again there will a coach stop halfway through our journey. Arrive back in Wickford and CyCool’s coast to coast 2024 challenge is complete!
